Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel uses a combination of natural and synthetic ingredients to remove dull and damaged surface skin cells and clear congested pores to reveal smoother and brighter skin. There are many different types of chemical peels available which leverage different concentrations and combinations of ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), glycolic acid, lactic acid and salicylic acid.

How does the procedure work?
A chemical peel can be applied to your skin in different dosages and for different amounts of time. There can also be different levels and layers applied based on your specific skin concern and the type of peel being applied. You will likely feel mild to moderate stinging or tingling which is essentially the acid working to remove dead skin and resurface the outermost layer of the skin. The acid is then neutralized by your practitioner to reveal brighter, tighter smoother skin.

Types of Chemical Peels offered at Monaco:

Superficial and Medium Depth Chemical Peels
Monaco’s signature superficial and medium depth peels combine four alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and two beta hydroxy acids (BHA) to create a rejuvenating cocktail with less stinging and irritation than other peels. We offer bespoke chemical peel treatments with our Health Canada Approved AlumierMD® peels, where different chemical peels are applied to different areas of the face depending on the target goals and specific skin issues. A consultation is required to determine which peel is right for your skin type and particular concern.

Obagi Blue Skin Peel
The Obagi Blue Peel® is the leading deep rejuvenation treatment designed to treat acne scars, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation from sun damage whilst increasing overall texture and tightness. A low concentration of Trichloeoacetic Acid (TCA) and Obagi’s signature blue base are applied to the skin ensuring an even distribution. Your Monaco skin care specialist can determine and regulate the depth of the peel to remove surface layers of aged and damaged skin or go deeper to treat severe hyperpigmentation, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and loss of firmness. The application of Obagi Blue Peel® is always administered by a skin care specialist who has specialized training and experience with this highly effective, FDA approved peel.

Who is a good candidate?
All skin types are good candidates and virtually every part of the body can be exfoliated including the neck, chest, back and dorsum of the hands.

When will I see results and when can I return to everyday activities?
Although there may be noticeable improvement after one treatment, repeat exfoliative treatments provide greater improvement. Superficial peels require no downtime, but minimal down time may be required with medium depth peels and the Obagi Blue Peel®.
